Weekly Announcements: Sunday, December 7, 2025
Birthdays celebrated this week include Kaitlyn Myers, Ralph Terrell Jr, Jean Johnson and Patience Cole. Our wish for all of you is that the Lord continue to be present in your lives.
Our church’s vision statement is, “We are a Christ-centered community reaching out in love to include the whole human race in all its beauty and diversity, with all its strengths and weaknesses. With God’s guidance we will grow together spiritually through worship, study of scriptures, prayer and followship, so that we will manifest Christ in our daily lives and bring others to Him through our witness.” To that end, we hope you can join some of our weekly activities. They help you foster deeper relationships and understanding with each other and with God.
Tuesday and Thursday you can join the “Walk In Faith” walking club. They meet at Grove Park in South Orange at 6:30 AM. The park is located at few blocks from the church going toward Seton Hall.
Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM you can join others here at the church with the SAFE HAVEN group as they support one another with the life-controlling struggles they deal with everyday. The conversations will be facilitated by Rev. Terrell.

- Wednesdays, 7:30 PM, the pastor leads our Mid-Week Bible Study on Zoom.
- Thursdays, 7:30 PM, the Knitting Group meets on Zoom to learn new technique and practice ones already mastered.
- Fridays, 7:00 PM, the Women’s Bible Study meets on Zoom to discuss their current study. They will be continuing their Advent Study, “More Than A Manger,”
- Saturdays, 9:30 – 10:00 AM, join the Praise & Prayer group on Zoom and feel the power of prayer. Want the group to pray for you? Leave a message on church voicemail: 973-763-0655.
Saturday, December 13, 5:00 -7:00 PM, our church, under the direction of renown musician, Emory L. Lee, will be hosting a FREE community Christmas Concert. The evening will be filled with Christmas music sung by choirs and soloists, played by a Bell Choir, and interpreted by liturgical dancers. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors with you. The sanctuary and bathrooms are not handicap accessible.
Saturday, March 7, 6:30 PM, SOVUMC’s Witness committee will host Kingdom Work Productions’ interactive Mystery Dinner and Performance of “A Mystery at Daddy-O Joe’s Midnight Chateau.” Location to be announced.
We want to thank those of you who have already contributed to the Marilyn Schnaars Legacy Fund. Your contributions made it possible for us to repair the floor of the chapel. By the end of November, we hope to recarpet the stage in the chapel and rebuild to code the stairs up to the stage. To cover the costs of that work, we need to receive $2,000 more in donations. If you haven’t yet contributed to the fund or if you have contributed but upon review of your finances realized you can give more, please do so now.
